This Saturday, Mt. Auburn Presbyterian Church will be hosting five distinguished panelists  to discuss the recommendations that were handed down by the Ohio Supreme Court Task Force (still confused as to what the recommendations are? Check out the interactive tool on our website).

This will be a unique experience to hear conservative perspectives on Ohio’s death penalty system.

In 2007, the American Bar Association (ABA) found that Ohio failed to meet 93% of ABA recommended guidelines to ensure a “fair and accurate” Death Penalty (DP) system.

In 2011, a special Task Force of experts was appointed to examine the DP.

In 2014, the Task Force released a report with 56 recommendations that attempt to address Ohio’s failure to meet the ABA guidelines.

This Forum will focus on the top 5 recommendations.

The purpose of the Forum is to inform you so you will be emboldened to contact your State Senator, Representatives and the Governor, urging them to support these recommendations when legislation is introduced for adoption.

There will be 5 outstanding people participating in this Forum.

  • Jim and Nancy Petro will speak. Jim was a former Ohio Attorney General. He and Nancy wrote a book, “False Justice: Eight Myths That Convict The Innocent”.

There will be 3 Distinguished Panelists:

  • Senator Bill Seitz, from District 8 who served on the Task Force.
  • Terry Collins, former Director of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections who oversaw 33 executions.
  • Kevin Werner, Executive Director of Ohioans To Stop Executions (OTSE)
