The Catholic Diocese of Columbus Office for Social Concerns Presents
Speaker Series: Justice, the Death Penalty, and Our Criminal Justice System
Capital punishment and mass incarceration are topics that have been gaining momentum in the news and have sparked national discussion. Our Lady of Mr. Carmel Parish is offering an educational opportunity on the death penalty and restorative justice and how we as Catholics are called to act and serve in light of this information.
We will be hosting guest speakers from the organization Ohioans To Stop Executions (OTSE) and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to share their personal experiences with the criminal justice system. They will be accompanied by a speaker from the Diocese of Columbus’ Office for Social Concerns who will discuss the Catholic teachings on these subjects and how we can act and serve the community on these topics in a way that is consistent with Catholic teaching. Please join us to listen and participate in discussion on these issues in this two night series.
