Friend,

Things are moving so fast and there are many balls in the air, but I had to stop for a few minutes to share with you some of YOUR SUCCESSES these past few weeks.

That’s right, YOUR SUCCESSES. Because YOU are an Ohioan to Stop Executions, and that means that when there is a victory, YOU have a share in it. Because of YOU and with your support, OTSE is making headlines and changing hearts and minds. Just look:

The Walk to Stop Executions, in which OTSE was a partner and coordinated media outreach, made our issue the topic of conversation throughout Ohio. WSYX had this terrific wrap-up, Ohio Public Radio broadcast this, and the Dispatch had this. And we had top-of-the-fold front page headlines from Portsmouth to Columbus, including the Portsmouth Daily Times, the Chillicothe Gazette and the Circleville Herald. And that’s not all. See links to additional coverage, our own reports, photos, videos and more on the Walk Facebook page, here.

OTSE’s goal was to ensure that Voices of Experience like death row survivor Derrick Jamison, murder victim family member Sam Reese Sheppard, and retired ODRC Director Terry Collins put undeniable realities on kitchen tables, living room TV’s, and car radios across Ohio. Your support helped the Walk earn positive, unopposed, saturation media coverage for our issue.

Meanwhile, in Cleveland, OTSE partnered with Witness to Innocence, which brought dozens of death row survivors from across the nation to help Ohio address its problem with wrongful death sentences and the possibility of wrongful executions. Again, our job was the media. Watch the press conference here, watch the TV coverage here, and read it in the Plain Dealer, here.

And of course, in partnership with the Ohio Alliance for the Mental Illness Exemption, today the Dispatch has this.

YOUR voice, trumpeted. With YOU, our fellow Ohioan to Stop Execution, OTSE is on fire! And we’re not stopping.

The question now is this: Will YOU add fuel to the fire?

Your $5, $50, $500 or even more will keep OTSE shouting it from the rooftops on your behalf. If you like what we’re doing, it’s time to chip in. Please click here to make your generous donation to OTSE right now.

More soon. Thank you for allowing OTSE to be your voice to end executions in our state.

Yours,

Kevin Werner
Executive Director, Ohioans to Stop Executions
