Dear Member,

This past week has been a whirlwind for OTSE and its staff. We were in planning meetings on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and then there was breaking news to be addressed yesterday and today. You can see the run-down below, and please use the sharing tools on our web page, Facebook and Twitter feeds to help spread the word.

I wanted to be sure you saw the news. More important, I want to be especially clear that while we always try to be responsive to new developments, our real focus is in getting ready to help push legislation to reform and ultimately end the death penalty in Ohio. We will soon be sharing more information about the unprecedented opportunities before us.

For now, please be sure to share the below information with your friends, family and colleagues. And its always a good time to renew your investment in Ohioans to Stop Executions. Click here to make your tax deductible contribution today, and help OTSE keep the information flowing!

Yours,

Kevin Werner

Executive Director

PS. We offer a warm welcome to everyone we’ve met recently at festivals around the state, at meetings of partner organizations, and just on Sunday, our new friends at The First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta!

BREAKING NEWS DEVELOPMENTS IN OHIO

Dennis McGuire’s execution took an abnormally long time and involved McGuire gasping throughout the process. Afterwards, the State of Ohio claimed that there were no problems with the execution of Mr. McGuire. In his review of the execution, warden of the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility Donald Morgan said “The process worked very well.”

U.S. District Judge Gregory L. Frost seemed to disagree; last Friday, he issued a moratorium on executions for 2014.

An expert is now testifying that Mr. McGuire did in fact suffer from the lethal injection process that was carried out for his execution.

Help OTSE bring you the latest news and be your voice against the death penalty in Ohio.
